[What you will be working on] 

Digital Excellence & Products Division (DXD) is a GovTech team within the Ministry of Education (MOE). DXD sits at the intersection of technology, design, and education. It’s a place where you can solve diverse, complex challenges for the education sector alongside thoughtful, intelligent individuals who lead with curiosity, empathy, and optimism. We develop meaningful products, platforms, and solutions for public good.

As a Software Engineer on DXD’s Data Programme, you will architect and develop infrastructure to support modern data science and machine learning applications. You will also partner actively with policy and business divisions to support MOE-wide digital transformation efforts through the use of Data and AI methods. You will be expected to:

  • Take full ownership of end-to-end data systems and architecture development, integrating databases, backend services, DevOps and cloud infrastructure as required to achieve organisational objectives

  • Develop data systems and supporting infrastructure, including database administration, ETL pipelining, and analytics tools for use cases across the MOE ecosystem

  • Develop infrastructure and applications in accordance with modern cloud technology, ensuring reusability, scalability and security

  • Work cross-functionally with Product Managers, Data Scientists and Users with a strong sense of ownership to ensure that products developed meet user needs


[What we are looking for] 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline or equivalent experience.

  • Experience with full-stack development on modern cloud platforms with care for reusability, scalability and security considerations

  • Experience with data systems and architecture development, including data pipelining and database administration, data lakes and warehouses, and analytics and ML tools

  • Experience developing data science and machine learning applications

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Experience with frontend development is a plus

  • Passion towards working for public good with interest in the education domain in particular
