[What you will be working on]
GovTech builds the digital infrastructure behind Singapore's Smart Nation vision. The Data Programme is focused on one of the harder problems in that space: how analysts, engineers, and policymakers across government discover, access, and make sense of data that shapes real decisions.
As a Director / Deputy Director, Design Management, you'd be the most senior design voice in the programme — setting direction, defining what good looks like, and building interaction models that don't really have a playbook yet.
- Lead discovery across the data ecosystem — uncovering where agencies get stuck accessing, understanding, and acting on government data
- Design interaction models that span the full stack: UI, APIs, CLI, and AI-driven interfaces, with coherence across all of them
- Define the principles and patterns for how data is surfaced, trusted, and used in high-stakes, sensitive environments
- Shape how the programme thinks about design — influencing product, engineering, and policy on what good looks like and why it matters
- Drive adoption of what gets built, treating usage and impact as design problems, not someone else's problem

[What we are looking for]
- 12+ years of experience, with a track record at principal level — shaping platforms, ecosystems, or systems-scale products in multi-stakeholder environments
- Deep experience with data-heavy products: search, APIs, dashboards, or developer tooling
- Technical fluency — comfortable enough with APIs and data models to co-create with engineers, not just hand off to them
- A portfolio that shows paradigm-level thinking, not just execution; experience in AI-native interactions or regulated/public sector environments is a strong plus
