What the role is

You formulate, coordinate and execute public communication (PC) strategies and plans in support of MINDEF/SAF’s communications objectives, principally to strengthen the corporate and public image of MINDEF/SAF, and to preserve public trust and confidence in National Defence, National Service (NS) and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).

What you will be working on

- Develop and implement public communication strategies and plans - Manage day-to-day current operations communications - Handle consequence management for major incidents and crises - Leverage media coverage, social media, and alternative media platforms - Shape perceptions of MINDEF/SAF among key target audiences - Manage MINDEF/SAF's interactions with the media - Serve as Service Account Manager for a particular Service Challenge(s) - Adapting communication strategies to rapidly evolving media landscapes - Managing public perceptions during crises or major incidents - Staying ahead of emerging media trends and technologies

What we are looking for

- Education in Communication Studies, Political Science, or Social Sciences - At least six years of relevant experience in journalism, media, public relations, corporate communication, and/or corporate planning - Keen interest in Singapore's media, political, defence, and security developments - Good understanding of Singapore's media landscape - Comfort working with policy makers and staff departments - Strong strategic communication skills - Excellent writing and verbal communication abilities - Ability to work under tight timelines and potentially odd hours/weekends You may be required to periodically travel overseas for work.
