What the role is

You will lead a dynamic team to develop and implement long-term strategies to drive the growth of our Services industries, including outward-oriented sectors such as Information & Communications (I&C) and Professional Services, as well as domestic-facing sectors such as Retail Trade and F&B services. You will work closely with MTI’s economic agencies and across Government to build a vibrant services [and digital industry] ecosystem, promote a conducive business environment, strengthen our economic competitiveness, and ensure that the fruits of economic growth benefit all Singaporeans.

What you will be working on

What you will be working on Specifically, you will: • Champion the growth and transformation of the services and digital industries that generate outsized impact and contribute to our economic heft, in collaboration with partners and stakeholders. • Formulate and implement long-term strategies, policies and plans for the sector, including to identify key economic outcomes and navigate potential challenges. • Optimise and unlock resource constraints to pursue and anchor key investments in strategic services and I&C sub-sectors. • Analyse business plans of services and I&C companies critically, evaluate incentive applications, and identify areas of potential Government intervention, as part of our efforts to develop Singapore Global Enterprises. • Implement the Industry Enabler of Singapore’s National AI Strategy 2.0 to build a thriving industry ecosystem in Singapore and drive sophisticated AI value creation and usage in key sectors. • Monitor global and regional developments to analyse implications for our economic strategies and policies to grow the sector. • Shape public communications on our economic strategies and policies, including to support the Ministry’s Political Office Holders and Senior Management in their public engagements through speech writing. • Support and coordinate interagency meetings, including to prepare briefing notes for meetings and company engagements. • Oversee the corporate governance and resource allocation of the Economic Development Board and its subsidiaries, cementing their position as key agents of Singapore's economic growth. To excel in this role, you should be comfortable with: - Translating knowledge and insights into practical frameworks, strategies and policy recommendations - Working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to organisational needs and priorities - Assessing various viewpoints and proposing recommendations with clear articulation of benefits and trade-offs, employing data, insights, and credible external perspectives in the process - Rallying and leading engagements among multiple stakeholders within and outside of the public service
