What the role is
What you will be working on
You will be involved in collecting, managing, analysing and making sense of large amounts of data from various sources as well as refining and optimising statistical processes.
• You will also be involved in the compilation, analysis and dissemination of economic statistics such as the International Investment Position (IIP), Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Portfolio Investment Assets and Liabilities.
• You will conduct research and analysis that span a wide range of data science, economics and statistical areas to develop new globally comparable indicators, enhance compilation methodologies and improve data acquisition and processing methods.
• As part of the International Accounts team, you will also work closely with economists, policy analysts, data scientists and other statisticians within and outside Government.
What we are looking for
• Possess knowledge or experience in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Accountancy, Actuarial Science and/or subjects with substantial quantitative content (e.g., regression, analytics, modelling, forecasting)
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to learn and apply relevant statistical and analytical tools and techniques for data compilation and analysis
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Knowledge of programming language(s) e.g. Python or R preferred
• Familiarity with AI and machine learning techniques would be advantageous
