What the role is
We are seeking a pastry and baking chef to join our teaching team. We are looking for experienced candidates with a passion to create delicious desserts, pastries and bread. Candidates should have a strong background in culinary arts.
What you will be working on
Prepare a wide variety of cakes, cookies, pies, bread etc.
Create new and exciting desserts to renew our menus.
You will develop curriculum and deliver training programmes based on current industry practices as well as assess students’ performance as individuals and as part of a team.
You will provide support to students through coaching and mentoring.
You will develop, review and deliver pre-employment training and continuing education curriculum related to one or more of the expertise listed below:
• Culinary Arts
• Restaurant Service
• Pastry and Baking
• Restaurant Development and Entrepreneurship
• Food and Beverage Management
• Food Sustainability and Food Waste Management
You will manage the day operations, general administration and procurement for the training restaurants; including sourcing, purchasing, receiving, supplier quality management, storage, and utilisation of food and beverage supplies/products and non-food supplies/products, and maintaining the training facilities equipment/tools.
In addition, you will be required to participate in research, industry projects, and diploma related events and school activities.
What we are looking for
Certificate in Culinary Arts, Pastry-Making, Baking or relevant field.
At least 8 years of relevant industry experience in the areas of expertise required below.
Proven experience as a Pastry Chef, Baker or relevant role.
Great attention to detail and creativity
In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques, and nutrition
Familiar with Singapore and Regional Food & Bevrage industries.
Experience in supporting and woring with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in dealing with people of all levels.
Good written, communication and presentation skills
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
A self-starter, agile learner, and takes personal interest in coaching and mentoring others.
Experience in developing curriculum or providing training in a client-facing environment will be an advantage.
