What the role is

You play a critical role in supporting the psychological, emotional, and social adjustment of new enlistees during their transition into military life, safeguarding the well-being of recruits.

What you will be working on

- Conduct orientation briefings and engagement sessions for newly enlisted recruits - Identify recruits at risk of poor adjustment to military regimentation or training disengagement - Perform intermediate checks on at-risk recruits referred by unit commanders prior to escalation to higher-level care agencies - Provide basic counselling, emotional support, and psychological first aid to recruits experiencing adjustment difficulties - Work closely with commanders, Medical Officers (MOs), psychologists, and CareHub to recommend appropriate interventions and support pathways - Track regular welfare and engagement reports for submitting to school and centre leadership - Organise mental wellness and unit cohesion activities within the school Challenge(s) - Engaging recruits empathetically whilst maintaining professional boundaries - Working in a high-tempo training environment with multiple stakeholders on an off-shore island (Pulau Tekong) with flexible working hours extending into late evenings or weekends - Supporting additional assignments in event organisation and taking on secondary organisational excellence related tasking

What we are looking for

- Education in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or a related field - Relevant experience in understanding military or communal living challenges, youth engagement, or dealing with at-risk youth or newly enlisted servicemen will be an advantage - Strong communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills - Sound judgement in identifying welfare risks and escalation thresholds, with the ability to work effectively with young adults in a structured environment - Organised, responsible, and able to perform duties independently and as part of a team - Willingness to visit training in the field occasionally (Applicants with no experience may apply.)
