What the role is

You are required to assist the Branch Head to strategise and plan the Singapore Armed Forces' (SAF) Defence Relations (DR) efforts with defence partners, while maintaining an overarching view of each Services' engagement to ensure alignment and understanding of the overall SAF's intent.

What you will be working on

- Strategise and plan the SAF Defence Relations efforts with defence partners and collaborate with key stakeholders in MINDEF and respective Services for the myriad of DR engagements - Maintain a comprehensive overview of the principals' Defence Relations calendar to plan and prepare for incoming and outgoing visits and bilateral fora - Vet briefing notes prepared by the Team to support principals in discussions with defence partners, including minutes, notes of calls, and congratulatory and valedictory letters - Serve as Deputy Head Secretariat to High-Level Meetings and respective Sub-Forums - Guide the Team in planning engagement programmes to strengthen relationships with defence partners - Act as deputy to the Branch Head in their absence during engagements with defence partners at meetings, visits and receptions Challenge(s) - Leading and motivating a team while demonstrating high levels of maturity and interpersonal skills to meet the demands of networking and interacting with both internal and external stakeholders - Communicating effectively with defence partners, which requires deep understanding of partner nations and their languages such as Bahasa Indonesia - Managing extensive interaction with people under time pressure while maintaining granular planning, organisational skills and emotional intelligence

What we are looking for

- Education in International Relations, Political Science, Security Studies, Southeast Asian Studies, History or related field in Social Sciences. - At least 6 years of experience, of which at least 2 years of relevant experience in defence relations, policy, research work, or related fields is preferred - Experience in research and analysis is preferred - Ability to write clearly and succinctly - Critical thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Ability to analyse and synthesise large amounts of information to draw sound conclusions - Comfortable working independently or as part of a team of analysts on identified topics of interest - Ability to manage team dynamics effectively Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
