The MHC department works on the development of industry manpower and human capital for Singapore’s maritime industry. It monitors and analyses trends in the maritime industry and workforce, and formulates targeted strategies to facilitate industry transformation, using a data-driven and high-touch engagement approach. Through these targeted strategies, the MHC team aims to attract and retain talent as well as nurture the workforce to be ready for emerging jobs as we continue to push for digitalisation, innovation and decarbonisation in maritime.
[What you will be working on]
Reporting to Deputy Director (MHC), you will work closely with local institutes of higher learning and training service providers in Singapore to develop a diverse and quality education and training landscape. As part of this work, you will also be required to engage with industry stakeholders such as international shipping companies and industry associations, as well as collaborate with relevant government organisations on manpower programmes.
Your major roles and responsibilities include (but not limited to):
Keep abreast of trends and developments in maritime education and training, both in Singapore and overseas. Provide timely updates and analysis on such developments to Division and Department Heads.
Lead in the formulation, implementation and/or review of initiatives and projects which are impactful on the development of maritime manpower in Singapore.
Work with local institutes of high learning (ITE, polytechnics and universities) to steer the development of education and curriculum to benefit the maritime industry.
Promote and encourage adoption of manpower programmes to the wider industry, so as to enable the growth of new / existing maritime businesses in Singapore.
Cultivate and grow the pipeline of human-interest stories to attract talent into maritime industry.
[What we are looking for]
Minimum 2 years of working experience in managing manpower-related programmes is an advantage.
Possess excellent communication skills (including written and presentation skills) and problem-solving skills
Able to structure issues, ideas and solutions clearly and concisely
Resourceful, analytical and meticulous
Possess good time management skills
Able to take initiative and work independently, as well as in a team.
