The Rehabilitation and Protection Group (RPG) in MSF provides services for the rehabilitation of adult and youth offenders and the protection of children and families. The Clinical and Forensic Psychology Service (CFPS) provides specialised psychological services to children, youth and families in abuse and trauma recovery and forensic mental health. The Centre for Family Excellence (CenFX) is a team within CFPS that specialises in working with families of children and youth known to the child welfare or juvenile justice system.

What the role is
What you will be working on
At CenFX, you will provide evidence-based family intervention (Functional Family Therapy; FFT) and be involved in projects to drive family-centred practices within the social service sector. In addition, you will be working closely with offenders and vulnerable individuals known to MSF to provide psychological assessments, as well as crisis support and management. You will also be given opportunities to work with internal and external partners to provide consultation and trainings. Continual professional development and growth for you will be supported through ongoing clinical trainings (including FFT training), supervision, and staff support.
What we are looking for
• Minimally a Master’s degree in Clinical, Forensic, Applied, or Counselling Psychology
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience after the completion of a postgraduate degree
• Willing to learn and apply a new therapeutic model designed to provide intense support for families with complex issues and challenges
• While prior knowledge or experience in family therapy is not required, having a desire and passion to help families build resilience will be an advantage
• Open to work with families in their own homes and at non-traditional working hours
• Strong critical thinking and good report-writing skills
• Strong and effective interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
• Organised and able to work independently to manage multiple deadlines and demands
