What you will be working on

This incumbent should aspire to bring into effect paradigm shift in how Singaporeans perceive and respond to participation in canoeing, with the aim of facilitating and sustaining active participation in the sport (focusing on youth development), which would further translate into successful transition of participants to coaches, officials, volunteers, spectators and fans of the sport. Role & Responsibilities • Coordinate with team members from the sports centres and coaches and lead the operations of programmes at identified centres and competitions and events island wide. • Manage the players’ database, progression and activity levels and recommend initiatives and methods for retention and development, including the staffing of overseas competitions and exchange trips. • Construct and implement developmental pathways for players to progress from skills-based and behavioural standpoints. • Understand the overall ecosystem, its gaps and opportunities and be able to identify key priorities and partnerships to strengthen the ecosystem. • Create the range of contents and maintain the channels for regular and interactive communication between the Academy and parents. • Engage parents and identify potential advocates for set up and development of parent support groups within the Academy. • Design and implement activities that will enable active participation in the Academy by parents and volunteers. • Engage and deepen parents’ understanding of their child’s development during his/her time in the Academy. • Oversee and manage coaches for the Academy including recruitment, assessment, deployment and development. • Develop a strong rapport with the coaches and work with them on their development. • Support the Team Lead to establish a coach development and education pathway from a volunteer to head coach, including working with CoachSG and NSA to draw up a coach certification and education calendar. • Proactively source for potential schools and outreach platforms. • Coordinate with team members, coaches and volunteers and lead the operations of these outreach events and initiatives. • Work closely with internal stakeholders (e.g. CoachSG, Sports Safety, Sports Fundamentals) to co-design and co-develop the curriculum for players and coaches. • Identify and form partnerships with credible organisations whose purposes and objectives align well with the Academy to expand its reach, capability and impact.

What we are looking for

We are looking for self-motivated individuals who value integrity, teamwork and take pride in going the extra mile to provide excellent service to stakeholders and the community. This individual should be a sport advocate through living an active lifestyle and staying active. In addition, an ideal candidate should possess the following: • At least 5 years of proven experience and/ track record in relevant areas, e.g. sport development, academy management related work • Good understanding of Singapore sporting ecosystem • Prior experience in project management will be an advantage • Current or former Team Singapore athletes preferred • Able to manage and lead people of diverse backgrounds and different positions • Self-motivated and able to work independently • Good organisational, management and administrative skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Proficient computer skills (standard software applications such as MS Office, email communications and internet research) The level of offer will commensurate with applicants’ experience and track records. Successful candidates will be offered a 2/3-year contract in the first instance. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
