If you are on the lookout to transition into a healthcare role in a Public Service setting, we would like to hear from you.
We are looking for driven individuals to be part of HSA’s Blood Resources Division- Blood bank team, where you will play a key role in securing the nations’ blood supply. In this front-facing role, the individual will perform essential blood collection support duties in a dynamic and close-knit team. If selected, you would be deployed to one of the existing blood bank sites (One Punggol/ Woodlands/ Dhoby Ghaut) or mobile team.
[What you will be working on]
BPA Responsibilities: -
- As a first point of contact with Donors at our blood collection centres, handle enquires, assist with next appointment bookings, and manage feedback accordingly.
- Perform registration duties which include registering donor for donation and phlebotomy linking.
- Conduct haemoglobin testing and capping which includes taking blood for haemoglobin test, explaining to donor on deferral if required, checking, sorting blood bags and sample tubes before passing it to the laboratory.
- Support blood collection team with necessary Operational Admin follow up duties.
SBPA Responsibilities: -
In addition to above, our SBPAs will support blood collection processes (Interested candidates with limited exposure to Phlebotomy are welcomed to apply. Training will be provided prior to deployment)
- Candidates who are competent Phlebotomists will be deployed to support blood collection operations within donation rooms
- Those with limited exposure to Phlebotomy will assist with the following blood collection support processes while undergoing training;
- Assist phlebotomist in Whole Blood (collection of blood in its complete form, not separated into its various components) pre and post donation procedure which includes blood bag preparation, bandaging and stripping of blood bags
- Support Apheresis (an automated process where plasma, platelets or red cells in the blood drawn is separated and remaining components are returned to donor during the donation process) pre & post donation which includes registering donors and test tubes preparation
- Conduct capping which includes taking blood for haemoglobin test, explaining to donor on deferral if required, checking, sorting blood bags and sample tubes before passing it to the laboratory

[What we are looking for]
Requirements: -
- Minimum GCE N/O Level and above or equivalent
- Team members will be rostered to support morning, afternoon and weekend shifts, across a 5-day work week and are not required to perform night shift.
- Applicants with recognised Phlebotomy skills and/or 2 year or more of working experience in similar settings will be considered for SBPA positions
- Willing to be deployed to Bloodbanks at OnePunggol, Woodlands or Dhoby Ghaut.
Our Blood banks operate 6 days a week*, between 9am – 8pm*
