PUB, The National Water Agency

Permanent/ContractClosed

What you will be working on

PUB has an in-house team developing and operating the advanced National Coastal-Inland Flood model. The model comprises a coastal and an inland model to carry out flood risk assessment. PUB is building up capability and capacity in model simulation work to better understand impacts due to evolving climate projections and to support emergency response. Thus, we are looking for passionate individuals to join our multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will contribute across various fields including hydrology and hydraulics, coastal hydrodynamics, data science and climate studies, contributing to our integrated approach to flood risk assessment and management. You would also have the opportunity to partake in applications of the model through on-going planning workstreams, research programmes or site-specific studies. Your key responsibilities may include: • Set-up, calibrate, validate, verify and conducting quality control (QC) of coastal and/or inland flood models or sub-modules • Carry out simulations and evaluate model results • Assessing appropriate input data for robust testing of models including but not limited to bathymetry, land use, flows, water levels, tides, rainfall • Conduct and establish quality control and analysis of measured and modelled data • Conduct statistical and geospatial analyses of model inputs and outputs • Test and transition models to an operational environment and validate the performance in accordance with relevant guidelines • Operate and maintain models in an operational environment • Develop and operationalise a centralised model hub that consolidates various flood risk assessment and coastal processes models • Develop documentation and plan/arrange training for users of the Coastal-inland Flood Model

What we are looking for

• Degree in Engineering (preference in Civil and Environmental Engineering) and/or Master’s Degree in Coastal Engineering, Hydro-informatics or a closely related discipline, plus more than 5 years of recent, relevant experience in coastal hydrodynamic, urban hydrology and hydraulics modelling • Familiar with various modelling and GIS software • Possess good programming skills (e.g. MATLAB, Python), with experience with data analysis • Knowledge of spatial and temporal data processing, analysis, and visualisation techniques • Experience with transitioning hydrodynamic models into operational application, including refining model setting, conducting quality control (QC) and performing stress testing to ensure the robustness and reliability of models • Familiar with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) for data processing and model simulations. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail • Good problem-solving skills • Work well independently and a resourceful team player Work Location Environment Building Successful applicants will be contacted within 4 weeks of the closing date of this job posting.
