What the role is

You are part of a team that charts the long-term direction and strategy for National Education (NE) and Total Defence (TD).

What you will be working on

You help to formulate and review NE policies and initiatives, develop strategic messages, and explore new ideas and partnerships to enhance the department’s efforts in strengthening national resilience and commitment to defence. You also develop plans and policies to drive Whole-of-Government NE efforts in areas such as sensing, content generation and engagement. Your challenge lies in understanding how issues related to NE and TD impact the department's work, balancing the department's interests with that of our partners, and developing effective strategies that can help achieve our strategic outcomes.

What we are looking for

You must have a tertiary qualification in Communication Studies or Social Sciences, preferably with at least 2 years’ work experience in policy-making or public communications. Having a strong interest and understanding of national issues is necessary. You must also have a strong command of clear written and spoken English, as well as possess good networking skills and an open, active and probing mind. Appointment will be commensurate with your experience. (Applicants with no experience may apply.) Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
