The Employment Act is Singapore’s main employment legislation which provides for the basic terms and conditions of employment, and specifies the rights and responsibilities of employees and employers. As an Investigation Officer/ Senior Investigation Officer, you will be part of the enforcement team that supports the Ministry’s efforts to protect the interest of our workforce and to build progressive workplaces for Singapore. As an Investigation Officer, you are primarily responsible for investigating possible breaches of the Employment Act as well as non-compliance with the Progressive Wage Model.

What you will be working on

• Conduct audit and inspections at workplaces; • Investigate companies and individuals arising from complaints or referrals for possible breaches of employment laws; • Take appropriate actions against companies or individuals who violate the employment laws; • Prosecute employers and individuals that make egregious and/or repeated offences under the employment laws; • Work closely with the Tripartite Alliance for Dispute Management (TADM) & Tripartite Alliance for Fair & Progressive Employment Practices (TAFEP) on cases to identify potential non-compliance of the employment laws; and • Investigate and assess employers and individuals on possible non-compliance with the Progressive Wage Model, and to refer to the relevant agencies for further actions.

What we are looking for

• Tertiary qualification in any field of study with at least two years of working experience; • Prior experience in enforcement, investigation and prosecution is an advantage; • Knowledge of the Employment Act is an advantage; • Be able to write clearly, concisely and logically; • Good analytical skills; • Good communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills; • Motivated, independent and able to work effectively with others in a team environment; and • Have the passion for investigation work.
