What the role is

With the aim of creating a safe and trusted online environment for Singapore, IMDA is looking for a Assistant Manager / Manager to join IMDA’s Online Communications Office, which:

a) Designs, operationalises and enforces IMDA’s online content regulations relating to Online Safety and Misinformation

b) Engages stakeholders within Government and Industry to ensure effective operationalisation and compliance with online content regulations related to online safety and misinformation.

Responsibilities

This role will sit within the Policy Operations team and will focus on:

  • Working with stakeholders across Government and Industry to operationalise key regulations relating to online safety and misinformation. Multiple stakeholder negotiations and coordination are expected.
  • Conducting Content Assessments on possibly violating online content, and take necessary regulatory action to deal with harmful online content.
  • Conducting Annual Compliance Assessments to evaluate if regulated online services are in compliance with Codes of Practice.
  • Evaluating and responding to stakeholder reports and public feedback on Online Content.

Note: This role requires weekend oncall duty at least once a month.

Requirements

  • Degree in Humanities, Computer Science, Social Sciences, Mass Communications or Legal Studies.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a technology policy or operations related role in the private or public sectors. Job grade will be based on duration and level of relevant work experience.
  • Strong interest in online safety, and good knowledge of how online platforms operate, including social media services, apps stores and online video games.
  • Experience in Public Policy, Online Content Regulation, Online Trust and Safety would be advantageous.
  • Strong analytical, communication, inter-personal and writing skills.

Position will commensurate with experience.
