What the role is
What you will be working on
You oversee large-scale projects to develop MINDEF/ SAF's technological capabilities and manage budgets and contracts for the projects. You will also manage budgets and contracts for the projects. You are required to conduct technology scanning to keep abreast of the latest technological advancements. You will conceptualise and define user requirements, and drive technical development teams to develop the relevant capabilities. You will also provide technical consultancy to MINDEF/ SAF stakeholders.
Additionally, you will be given opportunities to take up certifications in project management. You will gain experience in working with multiple stakeholders across MINDEF/ SAF and also gain experience in working at the forefront of rapidly-developing technologies.
What we are looking for
You should have a degree, preferably in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Information Security. You should have experience with computer networks and systems, data centre set-up or operations, big data analytics, cloud services, IT security. Possession of certifications in project management and contract management would be advantageous. You should have the ability to quickly comprehend technical concepts related to projects and articulate these with stakeholders. You should also have strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a knack for problem-solving. You should also have the ability to think strategically and have a keen eye for detail. Additionally, you should have the ability to manage tight deadlines and operate under time pressure.
About Military Security Department
The Military Security Department (MSD)’s core business is in Counter Intelligence and internal security for MINDEF/SAF. MSD was formed in 1975 to counter the threats of espionage, subversion and sabotage against MINDEF/SAF. It began with two main entities, namely the Counter Intelligence Branch (CIB) and Field Security Branch (FSB). Over the years, the department has continued to evolve and our roles expanded in tandem with the changing security environment. Today, our roles also include Counter Terrorism and Cyber Security.
