What you will be working on

The intern will assist the Individual Insolvency & Debt Repayment Scheme Division ("IIDRSD") of the Insolvency & Public Trustee's Office (“IPTO”) in the following tasks, in either the Debt Repayment Scheme or Adjudication role. Debt Repayment Scheme Role a) Assess debtor's application to be placed under the Debt Repayment Scheme (“DRS”) b) Examine documents submitted by the debtor and verify extent of debtor's assets and liabilities. c) Conduct meeting of creditors to determine debtor’s repayment plan. d) Handle both general and case-specific enquiries from debtors and creditors e) Assist DRS officers to review cases for cessation of the debt repayment plans (completion, failure or inapplicable for DRS) Adjudication Role a) Examine the validity of claims filed by creditors. b) Correspond with creditors, solicitors and/or bankrupts on request for additional information and/or further documentary evidence in support of the claims filed against the bankruptcy estate – may include resolving disputes between creditors and bankrupts which arise in the adjudication of the Proof of Debt. c) Sending statutory rejection notice to creditors whose claims are not admitted by the Official Assignee. d) Conduct preliminary adjudication for case classification and the Official Assignee’s asset realisation efforts. d) Assess creditors’ appeals to file Proof of Debt after the expiration of statutory timeline. e) Liaise with solicitors in respect of suits, counterclaims, contingent claims, and unquantified damages.

We are looking for interns who can commit on a full-time basis and are and able to start the internship as soon as possible.
