You will lead a team of psychologists in the use of behavioural sciences in supporting the department’s mission. You will tap on your experience and knowledge in psychology as well as engage internal stakeholders to develop solutions and initiatives for a diverse range of operational needs. Your role involves integrating ideas, anticipating and solving operational challenges in the implementation of research plans, and leading your team in the various initiatives.

What the role is
What you will be working on
You will make decisions and recommendations related to the use of psychological assessment frameworks, research studies and screening tools based on operational needs. You will drive initiatives for new psychological capabilities by working with management and internal stakeholders in supporting the department’s mission. By implementing appropriate data collection tools and analyses, you will derive actionable insights and make recommendations to senior management. You will oversee the running of day-to-day screening operations, research initiatives as well as spearhead engagements and consultations with various stakeholders.
What we are looking for
You should have a good honours degree in Psychology. Postgraduate qualification in Psychology is strongly preferred. You should have a minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience in the application of psychology or behavioural science in advancing organisational effectiveness – e.g. I/O Psychology, defence Psychology, market research, or consulting. You should have a strong foundation in independent research, scientific methodology, data analyses, visualisation and interpretation. You should also have strong stakeholder management and project management skills. You should have experience in leading and coaching junior team members. Additionally, you must be able to work with ambiguity and define problem spaces.
About Military Security Department
The Military Security Department (MSD)’s core business is in Counter Intelligence and internal security for MINDEF/SAF. MSD was formed in 1975 to counter the threats of espionage, subversion and sabotage against MINDEF/SAF. It began with two main entities, namely the Counter Intelligence Branch (CIB) and Field Security Branch (FSB). Over the years, the department has continued to evolve and our roles expanded in tandem with the changing security environment. Today, our roles also include Counter Terrorism and Cyber Security.
