What the role is

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to join the Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation team under the Wildlife Management Division. With a focus on wildlife management and rehabilitation, the job will range from caring and treatment of wildlife, wildlife management operations and responding to ad-hoc emergency cases.

What you will be working on

  • Carry out veterinary examination, triage, surgical procedures, restraint, medication and health records of animals.

  • Carry out pre-, peri- and post-operative care of patients including upkeep of clinic, surgical preparation, anaesthesia monitoring, movement of animals and recovery.

  • Supervise the daily care and well-being of animals, including feeding, husbandry of animals.

  • Assist with centre operations, including maintaining veterinary and clinical records, management of data and inventory, procurement of centre and clinic supplies, using computer systems where necessary.

  • Review and implement operational processes related to animal health and welfare, centre management and biosecurity, data and inventory management.

  • Assist with training of staff on animal care.

What we are looking for

  • Veterinary degree from veterinary schools fully accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons or the Australasian Veterinary Boards Council, or Veterinary degree from other universities

  • At least 1 year of relevant experience working in a veterinary clinic or research institute or other wildlife related facilities is preferred

  • Relevant experience in wildlife veterinary care in Singapore or overseas will be advantageous

  • Competent in handling, treatment and care of wildlife, including but not limited to small mammals, birds and reptiles.

  • Independent and able to work effectively with others in a team environment

  • Willing to work after office hours, on weekends and during public holidays when required

  • Possess good writing, interpersonal and communication skills

  • An organised, creative and resourceful team player who is able to work independently
