Description of Division: As part of the RPG family, the Child Protective Service (CPS) is a statutory service and it leads in child protection policies and processes to safeguard the safety and well-being of children and young persons in Singapore. The science and art of our work remain very much firmly rooted on keeping children safe from harm, working in partnership with families and stakeholders such as the schools, hospitals and other community partners.

What you will be working on

Responsibilities: Every child deserves a safe home environment free from violence. Child Protective Service takes the lead in child protection policies and processes to safeguard the safety and well-being of children and young persons in Singapore. The Assistant Director leads teams of Child Protection Officers (CPOs) and take on the role of a Protector (gazetted under Children and Young Persons Act) to safeguard children’s safety and wellbeing by providing statutory intervention to address the needs of children and young persons who have been abused or neglected. The Assistant Director will be supporting the Deputy Director in the running of the operations section and reviewing operational policies and solutions to address various challenges to meet the goals of Child Protective Service (CPS)/ Rehabilitation and Protection Group (RPG). As an Assistant Director, you will • Guide supervisors and CPOs to provide statutory intervention and supportive services to address the needs of children and young persons who have been abused or neglected. • Provide support to CPOs to work closely with the public and people sectors to provide services for children who are in need of care and protection. • Contribute to the development, implementation, and reviews of operational policies and processes on child protection, leverage on data, technologies/innovation to improve effectiveness and efficiency of child protection’s functions.

What we are looking for

Requirements: • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or related discipline; • Experience in working with vulnerable children and families. Investigative experience in social service settings is an added advantage; • Demonstrate personal integrity and accountability; • Possesses leadership qualities and skills to build strong teams; • Possesses strategic and systems thinking;
