What the role is
You will be involved in the development of the Performing Arts landscape in Singapore, with a focus on dance and traditional arts sectors. You will support the growth and development of performing arts (dance and/or traditional arts) professionals and organisations to create quality work and programmes, engage new audiences locally and internationally, and support their continued professional development.
What you will be working on
You will work with the Head of Department and Team Lead to guide team members to:
Formulate and implement strategies and initiatives to develop the dance and traditional arts sectors; monitor their progress and review outcomes and impact.
Tap on resources available to NAC and partners, including other government agencies, to achieve NAC’s overall goals and outcomes for the sectors.
Cultivate strong networks with and engage stakeholders within the performing arts sector for the purposes of strategy and policy development.
Administer NAC’s various assistance schemes, including grants, arts spaces, and other developmental platforms; assess grant applications; monitor and evaluate grant application outcomes.
Manage grant recipients (organisations and individuals) to support their development and ensure that funding outcomes are met and provide relevant and timely advice and support to dance and traditional arts companies and practitioners.
Review existing efforts in the internationalisation of the dance and traditional arts sectors and guide the team to support artists in their international projects to achieve NAC’s strategic priority in this aspect.
Manage the distribution and utilisation of the team’s budget, to ensure adherence to NAC’s processes of governance and accountability.
Identify areas of improvement and guide the team in reviewing department processes/policies to improve efficacy and effectiveness, where necessary.
Supervise/guide the team in the execution of their work and support their professional development.
Where assigned, undertake cross-department and/or cross-agency projects to achieve NAC’s/WOG’s strategic priorities.
What we are looking for
Good degree with preferably at least 3 years of relevant working experience. Candidates with working experience in leadership position may be considered for the Assistant Director position;
Knowledge of a range of dance and/or traditional arts genres, including an understanding of the local and international dance and/or traditional arts sectors. Prior working experience in the dance and/or traditional arts sectors would be an advantage;
Strong written and verbal communication abilities;
Strong analytical skills and ability to adapt to changing contexts;
Track record of working with multiple internal and external stakeholders, including demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills such as empathy, persuasion, and negotiation;
Meticulous and organised, with a process-oriented working style and adept at project management;
