The selected candidate will process and perform quality check on meteorological data, monitor performance and support maintenance of operational systems, and disseminate timely meteorological data, forecasts, warnings and related information to local and international users with the objectives of supporting weather analysis and forecasting activities to meet the requirements of the aviation and shipping industry and general public, agencies and specific users. You will be working in a fast-paced environment that would require the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time.

What the role is
What you will be working on
The job scope will include but not limited to the following:
- Monitor the performance of various data processing and collection systems and equipment to ensure timely availability of data in support of weather monitoring and forecasting activities
- Coordinate with external vendors/agencies during equipment or system outage and perform first line trouble-shooting for prompt restoration of system.
- Collate, prepare and quality check operational aviation meteorological information
- Consolidate and analyse statistics in support of the departments’ decision making process
- Review of work processes to enhance the department’s services and increase productivity
- Plan and manage a team of technical support officers’ staff training and development
- Ensure products provided through Internet and web portals and network/communication services are timely, up-to-date and accurate
- Perform archiving of data on specialised meteorological systems and where necessary, retrieve these data in support of special investigations and enquiries
- Liaise and co-ordinate with contractors in the implementation, testing and monitoring of new systems to ensure that projects are completed within the specified timeline.
- Manage maintenance contracts, including co-ordinating, supervising of vendors, and monitoring system performance to ensure high system availability.
What we are looking for
The job might be for you if you possess the following:
- Diploma in engineering/information technology/systems or equivalent
- Good technical knowledge of remote sensing systems would be an added advantage
- Good knowledge of IT and in common computer software (Microsoft Office Access, Excel, Word), including some general skill in trouble-shooting of computer hardware
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Possess leadership and vigilance
- Mature, independent and resourceful
- Organised, meticulous with attention to finer details, and able to multi task
- Self-driven and always ready to strive for improvement
- Takes initiative and carries out plans to the end
- Able to communicate in a friendly manner and enjoy working with others as a team
- Able to perform rotating shift work, including night shift and on weekends.
