What the role is

Emergency Preparedness (EP) oversees strategies, policies, as well as operational matters pertaining to peacetime and crisis management for the MND Family. It coordinates EP initiatives, National Emergency (NE) and contingency planning with other Ministries/Government Agencies. It also drives and supports emergency and ground exercises for MND HQ and our SBs e.g. provision of emergency quarantine housing facilities during a disease outbreak, etc. As part of its planning role, EP looks into crisis infrastructure planning to ensure resilience. It includes coordinating emergency preparedness planning for land, facilities, supporting utilities, and infrastructure services. It also undertakes research in EP or other MND-related issues involving public infrastructure and housing.

What you will be working on

You will be part of a tight-knit and passionate team to develop, review and implement policies and standards to help build the Ministry's capacity and capability in contingency planning and emergency preparedness. This will require you to liaise and work with our Statutory Boards and various Government Agencies or relevant companies to develop contingency and emergency operations plans, organising and conduct training, exercises and operational readiness related initiatives and programmes. You will also help to conduct NE training/workshops for the Ministry's essential personnel; formulate exercise scenarios/validation checklist and participate in exercises conducted by Ministry of Home Affairs and/or Homefront agencies.

What we are looking for

• A Degree in any discipline; • Working experience in contingency planning, incident/crisis management, or urban planning preferred.; • Ability to conceptualise and develop operation plans; • Excellent written, presentation, interpersonal, and verbal skills, with the ability to work well both independently and in a team; • Ability to handle rapid developments in a crisis situation is critical.
