What the role is

As part of IMDA, the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) serves as the principal authority in the area of personal data protection in Singapore. Its mission is to administer and enforce the Personal Data Protection Act 2012, including the operations of the Do Not Call Registry.

The PDPC formulates and implements policies relating to the protection of personal data. It also reviews actions of organisations on areas of personal data protection rules and issues enforcement decisions as well as directions for compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct case assessment of Data Breach Notifications (DBN) cases and information on data breaches and prepare reports with key recommendations on case conclusion and/or follow-up actions.

  • Manage complaints and queries relating to the Do Not Call (DNC) and Data Protection (DP) Provisions under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA).

  • Follow-up with parties involved in data breaches and complaints, including private organisations, members of public and other government agencies.

  • Assist in CS&I policy and process management of DBN cases, DP complaints and DNC complaints.

  • Support the CS&I data operations and analysis, including the data management, statistics generation, and trend identification.

  • Support and participate in enterprise change management for existing and new projects together with other teams and divisions.

Requirements

  • Experience in public facing or customer service environment.

  • At least 2 years of relevant working experience.

  • Possesses good written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills that can translate analysis into in-depth case assessment and strong ability to handle exceptional cases.

  • Experience in and/or exposure to data protection policies/processes will be an advantage.

  • Experience in law enforcement or regulatory/compliance work will be an advantage.

  • Overall resourceful, self-motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
