Principal/Senior Manager (GL and Financial Reporting)

What the role is

You will report to the Senior Assistant Director (General Ledger, Accounts Payable & Management Reporting) of the Finance & Procurement Department in the Corporate Services Group. In this role, you will be responsible for the general ledger preparation, monthly financial reporting, management reporting, year-end audit preparation and data analytics.

  • Oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes, including opening and closing of financial periods, reviewing of monthly and yearly accruals, reviewing monthly allocation journals, performing system allocations
  • Ensure that transactions are properly recorded to align with reporting needs, and are in accordance to SB-FRS
  • Review monthly schedules that are prepared after month end and year-end closing
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management reports including income and expenditure statement for the professional groups, and balance sheet for HSA, as well as performing variance analysis and data analytics for HSA and professional groups
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors, and handle the year-end statutory audit requirements, which includes drafting of the financial statements (statements of comprehensive income, financial position, changes in equity, cash flows, and the accompanying notes)
  • Administering Workday security access, and liaise with stakeholders to perform regular reviews on security roles assignment
  • Prepare any required returns to Department of Statistics or Accountant-General’s Department, and ensure that the submissions are accurate
  • Any other work-related adhoc duties

Job Requirements:

  • Background in Accountancy (or ACCA equivalent), with relevant working experience
  • Experience with Workday is an added advantage
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Office software is essential, with at least intermediate knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Be meticulous with a good eye for details, and strong analytical skills
  • Committed and strong team player, but also able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, handling voluminous data
  • Strong interpersonal skills, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work within tight deadlines
