You are responsible for developing evidence-based movement and conditioning strategies to enhance soldier physical readiness whilst reducing musculoskeletal injuries. You will optimise Army physical training systems through scientific analysis, stakeholder engagement, and capability development across the organisation.

What you will be working on
- Design and implement evidence-based movement and conditioning strategies to reduce musculoskeletal injuries and improve physical readiness
- Review and refine Army physical training systems to improve movement quality, load management and conditioning outcomes
- Analyse injury trends, training loads and performance metrics to inform training recommendations and policy adjustments
- Engage with commanders and trainers to provide expert advice on physical training practices and injury prevention strategies
- Deliver lectures, workshops and professional briefings to build knowledge and competency in training practices across the Army
- Work with training, medical and research stakeholders to integrate performance optimisation and injury prevention into the broader training system
- Contribute to the development or refinement of training policies, guidelines and frameworks related to physical training and injury mitigation
Challenge(s)
- Converting sport science research and evidence into practical, scalable training interventions that can be implemented effectively within Army units
- Designing interventions that are not only scientifically sound but also practical, resource-efficient and scalable across the Army
- Communicating clearly with commanders and senior stakeholders, presenting findings, addressing challenges and defending recommendations in professional forums
What we are looking for
- Education in Sport Science, Kinesiology or related field, with postgraduate qualifications preferred
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in performance optimisation, injury prevention, and training programme development
- Professional certification credentialed by an independent accreditation agency, such as Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA), is preferred
- Good understanding and knowledge of research design and methodology, biostatistics and bioethical issues
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and operate as both a leader and a team player
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
