What the role is

CAAS Technology Office leads the planning and implementation of strategies to enhance Singapore’s competitiveness as an international air hub through research and innovation. We oversee innovation programmes and initiatives for existing as well as emerging areas in aviation including (i) air traffic management, (ii) airport operations, (iii) unmanned aircraft systems and (iv) sustainable aviation.

Within each area, our work includes:
1. Developing innovation strategies to strengthen competitiveness of Singapore’s aviation sector.
2. Translating innovation strategies into implementable programmes, projects and initiatives including roadmap development, securing and managing of R&D/innovation funding, establishing ecosystem wide innovation enablers (e.g., infrastructure), ensuring ‘line-of-sight’ to implementation for R&D projects etc.
3. Overseeing capabilities development for local industry and research institutes to support aviation sector’s needs.

What you will be working on

As an Assistant Director, you are expected to:
• Develop technology/innovation strategies that contribute to CAAS’ strategic priorities and objectives.
• Lead the design, development and implementation of projects and initiatives to support such strategies.
• Build stakeholders’ confidence and buy-in for projects and initiatives under your charge.
• Manage the projects and initiatives under your charge to ensure that they deliver the impact and outcomes committed to stakeholders.

What we are looking for

Requirements
• Experience in the following areas is advantageous:
o Familiarity with airport related operations, especially airside operations.
o Experience in developing operational-technology roadmaps and managing their implementation.
o Familiarity with schemes and processes administered by the National Research Foundation, Singapore.
o Managing and delivering projects or initiatives that involves multiple stakeholders.
• Possess strong strategic and analytical thinking skills to synthesize information, identify options and trade-offs, analyse feasibility and implications, and develop sound and informed strategies.
• Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to influence stakeholders and build buy-in for projects and initiatives.
• Demonstrate strong project management and problem-solving skills to drive project win-win outcomes for stakeholders.
• Possess professionalism and confidence in dealing with people at all levels, especially with industry stakeholders and other government agencies.
• Ability to project manage well with minimal supervision
• Self-motivated, and good team player with ability to build consensus.

Note: Your appointment designation will commensurate with your relevant work experience. Successful candidates will be offered a 3-year contract in the first instance, and may be considered for placement on a permanent tenure or subsequent contract renewal.
