What the role is

You will assist in the investigation of serious workplace accidents and take offenders to task. This serves as a deterrence to stakeholders who contravene the WSH Act, therefore achieving a safe and healthy workplace.

What you will be working on

• Assist in the management of the scene of a serious accident or dangerous occurrence such as; o Coordinating the involvement of other departments or government agencies at the accident scene (for instance Energy Market Authority for electrocution cases and Occupational Hygiene Department for chemicals and confined space cases. o Assist in the preservation and collection of evidences. This will include recording preliminary statements from eye witnesses. o Part of the Ground Operations team if activated for catastrophic accidents. • Assist in the investigation into serious accident or dangerous occurrence and make sound recommendations on actions against liable parties such as; o Gathering of evidences and recording of statements, to be utilized in establishing causes of accidents / dangerous occurrence and assessing liabilities. o Assist in putting up investigation reports to capture salient points of the case, assessment of evidences, discussion on liabilities and recommended actions to be taken against liable parties. o Assist in the preparation of submissions to clear assessments and recommendations with Legal Services Division (“LSD”) and OSHD’s senior management. o Preparing the case file for prosecution actions.

What we are looking for

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering disciplines preferably with at least 3 years' working experience. • Good knowledge and understanding in application of Workplace Safety and Health legislation and Criminal Procedure Code. • Good report writing skills. • Passionate in occupational safety & health matters.
