What the role is

As a Senior Manager/Manager/Assistant Manager in the National Mental Health Office, you will play a critical role to support the development of strategies and services and promotion of social-health integration in mental health and dementia care. You will engage with and form partnerships with a diverse group of clinical and professional stakeholders and advocates to support research, conceptualisation and development of future care models and system designs. You will be working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment that would require the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time.

What you will be working on

To develop an effective mental health ecosystem, you will support the Office to implement the National Mental Health and Well-being Strategy in, but not limited to the following areas: General Population a) Review and develop care models, monitor implementation and progress, and manage funding of mental health programmes and services for the general population; b) Implement the initiatives under the National Dementia Strategy (NDS); c) Review the psychiatric intermediate and long-term care (ILTC) landscape and care models, and develop and monitor progress of the psychiatric ILTC services and facilities. Youth a) Review and develop care models, monitor implementation and progress, and manage funding of youth mental health programmes; b) Develop and manage psychiatric ILTC and associated programmes and services for youths; c) Maintain policy oversight and coordinate mental health promotion and preventive pieces undertaken by relevant partner agencies

What we are looking for

• Relevant qualifications in healthcare, public health or related field, preferably psychology or allied health or life science. • Relevant working experience in healthcare, social services or public policy is desired. Fresh graduates are also welcome to apply. • Strong project management, implementation and budget planning skills • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse qualitative and quantitative data, and develop evidence-based recommendations. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Need to be able to work independently as well as in a team, and in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders • Good skills in analytical thinking, writing and presentation, coordination and logistical arrangements Key Competencies Required: • Thinking Clearly & Making Sound Judgements – Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to support the crafting of sound policy recommendations; ability to grasp timelines, operating context and ground realities. • Learning & Putting Skills into Action - Possesses the drive and curiosity to learn and apply new skills, knowledge and new ways of working. • Improving & Innovating – Ability to seek continual improvements, and to innovate and experiment while managing the risks involved. • Working Effectively with Stakeholders – Ability to mobilise and rally partners and stakeholders towards a collective purpose. • Serving with Heart, Commitment and Purpose – Ability to commit to the work scope to deliver on agency and whole-of-government outcomes.
