What the role is

GeoSpace-Sea is Singapore’s inter-agency National Marine Spatial Data Infrastructure (MSDI) initiative which develops and implements an integrated, data-rich infrastructure for Singapore’s marine space, for the key purpose of inter-agency sea space management and planning. As Manager, you will be involved in the development, implementation and maintenance of the Geo-Space Sea as well as build and strengthen partnerships with and among other agencies and stakeholders such as Institutes of Higher Learning, public and industry users of the data.

What you will be working on

  • Understanding business needs and processes to propose Geographic Information System (GIS) solutions;

  • Prototype GIS related solutions by studying requirements, systems flow, data usage and work processes;

  • Support application software configuration, programming, enhancement and testing based on changing business requirements;

  • Provide timely support to users to resolve issues surfaced, and recommend solutions that are effective and optimal; and

  • Exploring new technologies and propose innovative technology solutions to meet business needs.

What we are looking for

  • Good knowledge and experience with hands-on development in scripting and/or developer languages such as JavaScript, Python, HTML, CSS, .Net framework, JavaScript framework, web mapping framework, web services etc.;

  • Knowledge and experience with GIS technologies and products;

  • Knowledge and/or experience with geospatial data analytics and/or advanced geoprocessing is desirable;

  • Knowledge and/or experience in any of the following area(s) will be an added advantage:

    • Cloud services;

    • Extract-Transform-Load (ETL) tools; and

    • 3D modelling.

  • Able to work independently and as a team, highly motivated and passionate about prototyping, developing geospatial web applications and using geospatial technologies to improve work processes; and

  • Effective presentation, communication and writing skills.
