What the role is

We are seeking a Digital Business Analyst to join the Digital Strategy and Policy team at the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore. This role is crucial for developing and implementing an AI and digital technology roadmap that will bridge the gap between emerging technologies (with a focus on AI) and business needs, to guide our maritime sector's transformation efforts. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities for leveraging AI and other digital technologies to address key challenges in the sector, such as manpower constraints and maritime decarbonization.

As the industry adapts to these challenges, there are strong use cases for AI and other digital technologies in Singapore’s maritime ecosystem. This position offers a unique opportunity to enhance Singapore’s global positioning as a leading maritime hub through innovative AI-driven development and deployment.

What you will be working on

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to analyse and define business requirements for maritime AI initiatives.

  • Analyse and translate stakeholder needs to support the development of a maritime AI roadmap.

  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities related to AI adoption and digital transformation in the maritime sector.

  • Facilitate workshops and meetings with stakeholders to ensure alignment on AI project objectives and deliverables.

  • Acquire AI solutions through working with in-house Data and AI engineering team, sourcing from the market, outsourcing to technology partners to build the required solutions and from open crowd sourcing events.

  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including strategic plans, process maps, and user acceptance criteria for AI solutions.

  • Support the testing and validation of AI-driven solutions to ensure they meet business requirements and quality standards.

  • Support the stakeholders to work with the technology providers to mitigate the risks of AI applications to a level that is acceptable.

  • Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to management and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability in AI initiatives.

What we are looking for

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science/Engineering, AI/Data Science, or a related field.

  • Prior working experience in business analysis, with a focus on AI or digital transformation initiatives.

  • Strong understanding of AI technologies, digital product development processes, and methodologies, including Agile and Scrum.

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, with the ability to interpret complex data sets to inform AI strategy and decision-making.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders across local and global maritime players, which includes port operators, shipping lines, technology companies, among others.

  • Experience in creating user stories and functional specifications, with a keen eye for detail.

  • Willingness to deep dive into the maritime industry trends and challenges, to better appreciate the role AI and digital technologies can play in sector’s transformation.
