What the role is

You lead and provide psychological care, as well as develop and implement programmes to maintain and enhance the psychological well-being of MINDEF/SAF servicemen.

What you will be working on

On this, you monitor and conduct periodic interviews, which includes basic counselling and management plans, to support those who require professional mental health support so that there is optimal deployment, support and management of these servicemen, and their psychological readiness is maintained at all times. You advise and train commanders and supervisors on managing psychological health challenges at the workplace. You also influence policy decisions related to this domain at the unit level, and work with personnel on a one-to-one basis. Your challenge lies in encouraging servicemen to step forward when they are in distress, keeping abreast on the latest developments in the field, being mindful of your mental well-being as cases can be emotionally draining, and professionally developing junior psychologists under your charge.

What we are looking for

You must have a Postgraduate Degree in Psychology, with at least 6 years’ of relevant experience. You should preferably be knowledgeable of national-level psychological and social services policies and resources. You should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact professional with external agencies, be an independent and innovative thinker, and be passionate about growing the practice of psychology within MINDEF/SAF.
