What the role is

We are looking for a locum doctor to be part of the Blood Services Group (BSG), Clinical Services Division. The appointee for this position will perform donor screening in a HSA blood collection site, e.g. blood bank/ mobile collection drive to ensure suitability of blood donors based on BSG’s set criteria to ensure donor and blood safety. The locum doctor will also serve as medical cover during blood collection activities.

What you will be working on

Responsibilities:- • Conduct pre-donation medical screening, blood collection activities, counsel donors with abnormal haemoglobin test results and maintain medical databases in order to ensure safe and adequate blood collection to meet the national healthcare need • Ensure efficient and smooth flow of pre-donation medical interview and counselling processes • Ensure efficient and smooth blood collection activities • Ensure donor well-being during blood collection process • Promote donor retention • Attend to donors experiencing adverse donation reactions during or after blood donation

What we are looking for

Requirements:- • The appointee must have a MBBS certificate and be registered as a doctor with Singapore Medical Council (Full registration) • Open to working afternoon and weekend shifts • Open to working at various blood collection centres and mobile drives This position is intended to be on temporary contract, for up to 12 months. Successful appointee will be appointed under a renewable locum contract by a recruitment agency. The locum doctor will contribute an average of 21 hours per week based on assigned roster and location. Depending on operation requirements, a locum doctor may be assigned to work more than 21 hours on a given week, and less in the following week, to make up the average of 21 working hours work per week. Thus, the locum doctor would contribute approximately 84 - 105 working hours over a span of a month (depending on whether the month has 4 or 5 weeks). The successful appointee would be hourly rated, i.e. paid based on the actual number of hours he/ she contributed.
