What the role is

NParks is the national authority for plant health for Singapore and a signatory of the International Plant Protection Convention to protect international trade from plant pests. The role of the Executive/Administration is to provide management and office administration for phytosanitary certification and import regulation to facilitate trade of plants and plant products.

What you will be working on

Phytosanitary Certification

  • Review and process electronic applications for phytosanitary certification via GoBusiness in compliance with relevant regulations

  • You will gain knowledge of importing country’s requirements, handle enquiries and change requests on applications and release approved phytosanitary certificates for collection by clients to facilitate timely export of plants and plant products

Import Regulation - Issuance of Import Permit

  • Review and process import permit applications for commercial trade via TradeNet system in compliance with import regulations under the Control of Plants Act to facilitate imports to protect local plant resources from plant pests

Other Tasks

  • Prepare important reports and documents e.g. financial transactions records, daily summary of inspection fees

  • Communicate and interact with clients via telephone/email on any matters related to phytosanitary regulation for trade

  • Oversee office management to support the team’s regulatory operations 

What we are looking for

  • Area of study in Horticultural Science, Life Science, Biological Sciences or related fields preferred

  • Able to write and communicate well in English; conversant in at least one other language or dialect

  • Has a positive attitude and pleasant personality with passion to deliver excellent customer service

  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented with high accuracy and able to prioritise tasks and handle multiple responsibilities

  • Good interpersonal skills to work well in a team

  • Knowledge of MS Office applications
