What the role is

You will be part of a dynamic team that spearheads Singapore's development as an international maritime centre (IMC). You will be responsible for leading one of the teams within the IMC Promotion Department that devises, executes and administers initiatives to grow a portfolio of new accounts as well as to manage and deepen engagements with existing accounts.

[What you will be working on]
The key duties and responsibilities are: 

1)    Attract and entrench inbound investments within the shipping industry 
a.    Build cross market understanding of business trends that impact the various shipping sectors, developments in adjacent sectors, identify trends across market regions undertaken by the officers within your team.  
b.    Target and grow the pool of international shipping companies in terms of diversity in nationalities and shipping segments within the market portfolios under your charge.
c.    Strengthen and future proof Singapore’s value as a business hub for maritime activities by encouraging the expansion of the range of business activities conducted in Singapore.   
d.    Identify trends and focus efforts in encouraging growth in strategic areas such as decarbonisation, digitalisation and innovation projects.   
e.    Partner account managed shipping companies to develop manpower through various workforce development programmes
f.    Collaborate closely with strategic partners (industry associations and other government agencies) to develop and promote Singapore as a leading International Maritime Centre.
g.    Cultivate and grow international shipping companies in Singapore through one-on-one discussions, roundtable discussions and overseas marketing trips to engage senior industry leaders.
h.    Work with strategic partners to participate in international maritime events (both local and overseas) as well as to organise events during the Singapore Maritime Week.
i.    Manage and track commitments by account managed companies in various programmes and initiatives managed by MPA
j.    Where required, to drive project teams to respond to issues to ensure the continued growth and development of the maritime cluster.

2)    Drive service excellence
a.    Drive changes/ enhancements in existing policies/ processes to ensure that the account managers can deliver prompt and good service to shipping companies.

3)    Team leadership and coaching
a.    Provide team leadership and guidance to officers and ensure they meet the department targets and personal development objectives.
b.    Demonstrate corporate values with other stakeholders.

[What we are looking for]
a.    More than 12 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years’ experience in a supervisory position is preferred.
b.    Experience working on (a) client engagement in Singapore public sector, (b) investment promotion organisations, (c) maritime industry and/or (d) in business development/industry development fields will be an advantage.  
c.    Financial and taxation knowledge will be useful expertise for this role. 
d.    Knowledge of the Singapore Port or Maritime Singapore would be an added advantage.
e.    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
f.    Strong interpersonal skills and able to build and maintain relationships with industry and international stakeholders at C-suite level.  
g.    Strategic with strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to make good judgment calls.
h.    Strong leadership skills to lead and manage internal stakeholders, as well as direct and indirect reports.
i.    Effective influencing and negotiating skills.

You may be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
