What the role is
What you will be working on
You observe and interpret human behaviours at various levels of analysis. On this, you develop research approaches, frameworks and propose metrics to analyse data to derive insights on human behaviour. As the Subject Matter Expert, you conduct training and workshops for team members when required on cognitive science principles, and their applications in information activities, and inform decision-making processes and operational planning. You work with relevant partner agencies across MINDEF/SAF and the Defence Technology ecosystem on identified research areas. Your challenge lies in breaking new ground in this emerging area in order to develop new knowledge and understanding on behavioural science, cognition and perception in the information environment. You need to be flexible and adaptable in the face of rapidly evolving environments, with the capacity to perform under pressure. You must be able to synthesise complex findings and articulate them clearly to a variety of audiences.
What we are looking for
You must have a tertiary qualification in Cognitive Science, Psychology, Human Factors, Neuroscience, or a relevant field, with at least 10 years' working experience. You must possess a solid understanding of research methodologies, including both qualitative and quantitative approaches, along with proficiency in statistical analysis. Possession of certifications in cognitive assessment techniques or human-computer interaction is advantageous. Being familiar with data analysis software and tools, such as SPSS, R, or Python, for effective data interpretation is beneficial. Having a good awareness of Singapore’s political, defence and security developments, as well as current affairs as well as the regional and international media environment is essential. You should also possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
