What the role is

MPA’s Maritime Decarbonisation Division aims to formulate strategy and track the sustainability performance of various MPA initiatives. It will also promote sustainability awareness and manage sustainability initiatives and programmes and integrate them into MPA’s work for Maritime Singapore.

You will be a part of a strategic, dynamic team to formulate sustainability strategies, identify sustainability related solutions and work with other agencies and internal stakeholders to formulate policies to drive maritime sustainability and decarbonisation efforts. In addition, you will be an integrator to coordinate and integrate across various divisions’ sustainability/decarbonisation initiatives.

The key responsibilities are:
1. To integrate MPA’s sustainability and decarbonisation initiatives across the local and international domains
2. To interface and liaise for various inter-agencies collaborations, studies, discussions on climate change, green growth, carbon accounting and environmental sustainability
3. To drive the implementation of Green Shipping Corridor partnerships with like-minded Port Authorities around the world
4. To advise MPA Divisions in implementing their sustainability strategies and initiatives
5. Support the implementation of MPA’s Maritime Singapore Decarbonisation Blueprint 2050, which charts the decarbonisation strategies and pathways for Maritime Singapore
6. Lead workgroup on promoting carbon reporting and awareness amongst local maritime companies, including sustainability training and workshops
7. To support and promote MPA’s sustainability initiatives at international green forums with other port authorities and partners

Requirements
1. Knowledge in Environmental Engineering/Environmental Sciences/Environmental Management/Biodiversity, Conservation and Nature-based Climate Solutions/Energy Policy and Climate would be preferred. Completion of relevant modules in sustainability-related courses will also be considered
2. Relevant work experience with experience in handling sustainability/ decarbonisation-related initiatives
3. Candidates with BCA’s Singapore Green Mark certification and involvement in low carbon initiatives (eg: biofuels, hydrogen, etc.) will have an added advantage
4. Knowledge on development of low-carbon technologies (eg. CCUS, etc) and/ or carbon services (eg: carbon credit, etc) will be useful
5. Is a team player and possesses strong analytical, interpersonal and communication skills
