What the role is

The Policy and Strategy Development Division is part of the Policy, Research and Surveillance Group in the Health Promotion Board. The Division’s mission is formulating public health policies and strategies, as HPB progresses beyond promotional approaches to employ regulatory and policy levers to modify health behaviours. Areas of focus include obesity control (food and physical activity), substance abuse (tobacco and alcohol), as well as emerging areas of public health concerns.

This position offers the right candidate the opportunity to be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, organisational policies, and legal standards. This role involves monitoring activities, identifying non-compliance, and taking appropriate advisory actions and escalating to relevant regulatory bodies. The officer will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure adherence to regulations, codes and guidelines, contributing to the overall integrity and effectiveness policies that promote healthy lifestyle behaviours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct, manage and oversee regularly monitor activities, operations, and processes with stakeholders or vendors to ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, guidelines and codes of conducts
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, to ensure a consistent approach to monitoring and enforcement.
  • Manage and support external vendors and stakeholders on compliance requirements in order to ascertain non-compliance cases
  • Maintain accurate records of monitoring activities, advisory actions, and investigations to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of monitoring and enforcement practices by analyzing data, reviewing case studies, and implementing best practices.
  • Keep up to pace with international developments, food labelling, and nutrition-related information.
  • Be able to formulate responses from queries from companies, expert groups and members of public
  • Be able to multi-task and handle ad hoc assignments when required.
  • Meticulous and detailed oriented.

Requirements

Candidates should have:
•     A degree level education in nutrition, food science, public health or related field
•    At least 2-5 years of experience in regulatory compliance, surveillance, monitoring, or a related field
•    Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills to identify, define and propose policy solutions for national preventive health problems.
•    Strong analytical abilities to synthesize information, build strong narrative, and distil ideas and concepts into concrete plans.
•    Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills to maintain strong stakeholder partnerships, as well as technical domain knowledge.
•    Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
•    Strong ability to work effectively in an environment that is highly matrixed, fluid and fast-paced.
