What the role is

As a MOF-Social Programmes Officer, your job scope is to advance leading ideas in social policies, drive synergies across the social sector, and optimise resources in social expenditure to achieve whole-of-government strategic outcomes in the following social areas: (a) social security, (b) equal opportunities for all, (c) an endearing home, and (d) a rooted and engaged citizenry. You will join an energetic and passionate team that works on policy issues in the areas of: education and human capital development, housing, health, social and community development, and retirement adequacy and ageing. We work with social sector Ministries spanning MOM, MOE, MOH and MSF, as well as their agencies. We also work with the Totalisator Board as it provides grants for selected social programmes.

What you will be working on

You will be involved in identifying emerging issues and trends to inform the social sector policy agenda, and in developing new social schemes or programmes. You may also work on cross-cutting and complex issues, such as: social mobility, support for jobs and skills, ageing, and support for the at-risk and vulnerable. You will also manage the budget and proposals of one or more of the social sector Ministries and agencies, or programme budgets for social policies that cut across agencies (e.g. marriage and parenthood). You will need to work closely with the Ministries/agencies on their (i) budgets and manpower needs, (ii) proposals and national policies, and (iii) major infrastructure projects. You can expect to be exposed to diverse and highly challenging issues in a fast-paced environment. There will be ample opportunities for working closely with inter-agency stakeholders and senior management.
