What the role is
Research projects seeking to improve tree structural stability in urban environments, including the development of new technologies and methodologies to assess defects in tree trunks, tree root parameters in constrained urban spaces and tree root anchorage strength, as well as wind load modelling and measurement for trees. Key roles for the projects above will include project management, field and laboratory testing, project coordination and contributions to reports and scientific publications.
What you will be working on
Coordination between research stakeholders and greenery asset managers to perform large scale-field work (e.g. LiDAR scanning, root excavations and static load testing etc.).
Data collection and evaluation of research outcomes.
Project administration (e.g., claims) and ad-hoc duties
Contributions to reports and scientific publications.
What we are looking for
Master’s degree in tree biomechanics, civil/environmental engineering, forestry, arboriculture, ecology, plant physiology, or related fields.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in one or more scientific computing language (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB) or experience in numerical modelling will be advantageous but not mandatory.
Team player with the ability to work with other research teams and key stakeholders in government, industry, and academia.
Relevant research and work (project management and administration) experience will be an advantage.
