What the role is

We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a strong interest in social cohesion and socio-religious issues. You will be part of a team that develops, coordinates and evaluate policies and efforts to strengthen social cohesion in our multi-racial and multi-religious society, taking into consideration current and emergent socio-religious challenges work that you do will help to strengthen community bonds to build a caring, cohesive and confident society in Singapore.

What you will be working on

  • Formulate and review policies with regard to racial and religious harmony, including safeguarding common spaces in Singapore.
  • Conduct research, environment scans and analyse trends on socio-economic, intra- and inter-racial and religious issues both in Singapore and globally.
  • Work closely with Muis, MENDAKI, PA MESRA, various government agencies and external stakeholders to develop and review community initiatives and events.
  • Provide Secretariat support to the Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs and various inter-agency committees.

What we are looking for

Work Experience

  • At least 3 years of working experience in the related field is required for this position.

Competencies

  • Clear and Concise Writing - Able to crystalise core issues through clear and concise writing.
  • Deep Critical Thinking – Able to distil critical issues and sense-make from a wide range of information and recommend effective policy solutions.
  • Design for Implementation and Communications – Develop policy that factors in strategic communications considerations upfront and has a grounded perspective of implementation considerations.
  • Stakeholder Engagement – Able to identify and prioritise stakeholders based on issues and build and sustain relationships with them.
  • Data-driven Policy Analysis – Able to use data analytics to support policy analysis and provide recommendations for different policy options.

Personality traits

  • Strong organisational and coordination skills to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Able to work in a team and independently.

Successful candidate will be appointed on contract basis and seconded out to Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth.

The Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (Muis), also known as the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore, was established as a statutory body in 1968 when the Administration of Muslim Law Act (AMLA) came into effect.
