Manager/Senior Manager (Corporate Communications)
What the role is:
As the ICAI Corporate Communications Manager/Senior Manager(CCM/SM), you will be an integral part of the ICAI Corporate team. The CCM/SM is responsible for helping the CEO orchestrate the strategic storytelling process, with the objective of strengthening ICAI’s position as an international aviation innovation champion. A core part of this role is to proactively curate empowering narratives that helps to increase awareness and understanding of ICAI’s initiatives as well as to enhance stakeholder engagement both locally and internationally to build greater trust in ICAI.
Taking an integrated communications approach, the role will include working with mainstream media, online media, and social media. You will be required to be familiar with communication strategies that are relevant to engaging both local and international stakeholders in the aviation industry, including but not limited to agencies such as airport regulators, airport operators, aviation service providers, airlines, and international agencies such as ICAO, CANSO, IATA, ACI, FAA, and EASA.
What you will be working on:
You will be required to perform multi-disciplinary duties which may include the following areas: strategic communications, messaging development, copywriting and editorial support, website content management, corporate branding, and events management.
A key responsibility of the CCM/SM is to work with ICAI management and project teams to promote ICAI’s innovation and partnership activities to the international community in aviation research and development. You are required to actively participate in meetings with senior management and project teams, offering communication advice to functional leaders to achieve desired communication outcomes. For example, propose communication strategy considerations, appropriate communication actions, and recommendations on content, channels, spokespersons and appropriate timing of communication actions.
Your Job Description includes:
Corporate Communications, Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting
• Develop and implement communication strategies
• Oversee the creation of communication materials, ensuring consistency across various platforms
• Manage responses to key stakeholders, including internal departments, external bodies like government offices, and foreign agencies.
Media Engagement and Management
• Produce press releases, media kits and other materials for the media
• Pitching newsworthy stories and securing media coverage in relevant publications
• Handle media inquiries in a timely manner, manage interviews, and maintain a media relations database
• Build and maintain relationships with media outlets and journalists.
• Monitor, review, and analyze media coverage
• Evaluate and manage PR services and media content placements
• Host foreign media and develop engagement plan
Strategic Planning and Implementation
• Co-create and execute communications strategies to achieve organizational goals.
• Propose and monitor media platforms
• Manage timelines and budgets for publicity
Budget and Resource Management
• Maximize resources and ensure communication expenses are within established boundaries
Requirements:
- Academic Qualifications. Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related fields.
- Relevant Experience. 5 to 8 years comprehensive experience encompassing media relations, brand management, and strategic communications planning
- Good understanding of integrated communications. Prior knowledge and experience in multi-channel communications including mainstream media, social media, from traditional to digital media platforms preferred. Good understanding and knowledge of digital media trends and tools will be an advantage.
- Content development experience. Experience developing and creating wide range of communications material for different purposes. Experience in videography/video editing skills, photography and design graphics will be an added advantage.
- Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate confidently with senior management and industry stakeholders with a clarity of thought. Must have good writing skills with ability to frame and package complex issues into simple narratives that is easily understood by different stakeholders.
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented individual. Must be a highly organized pro-active professional who is able to see the “big picture” and has a track record in working efficiently and effectively under pressure with a high degree of accuracy. Possess strong project management skills, resourcefulness and is results-oriented.
- Strong collaboration skills. A team player with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in cross functional teams. Proven track record in relationship management.
- Robust analytical skills. Possess good analytical skills to provide sound communication assessment and judgement to develop impactful communication strategies.
- Multi-lingual Communications. Experience in crafting messages and preparing presentations to audiences in the Asia-Pacific region will be an advantage.
