Do you have what it takes to be an elite Special Operations Group (SOG) or Police Tactical Unit (PTU) Officer of the Singapore Police Force (SPF)? SPF Direct Recruitment for SOG and PTU opens from 1 Jan 2025 – 31 Jan 2025.
The mission of the SPF is to prevent, deter and detect crime. We do this by working in partnership with the community to protect life and property, prevent crime and disorder, detect and apprehend offenders, and preserve a sense of security.
For SOG
- The SOG consists of SPF’s most highly trained units tasked with hostage rescue on land and maritime environments. The SOG units include the Special Operations Command’s Special Tactics and Rescue (STAR) Unit, the Police Coast Guard’s Special Task Squadron (STS) and the Gurkha Contingent’s Gurkha Special Action Group (GSAG).
- The STAR Unit provides the SPF with the highest level of tactical armed response. As a STAR officer, you will be called upon to apprehend armed and dangerous criminals, rescue hostages, provide security coverage for high-profile events, provide close protection escort for high-risk prisoners and deal with high-risk criminal incidents within Singapore.
- STS is a highly specialised unit tasked with handling high-risk maritime operations and countering serious threats within Singapore’s Territorial Waters. As an STS officer, you will take on critical responsibilities, including intercepting and neutralising maritime intrusions, responding to armed threats, performing tactical boarding of non-compliant vessels, and conducting hostage rescue operations.
For PTU
- The PTU is a highly trained specialist unit that comes under the direct command of the Special Operations Command, and is a strategic force that supports SPF in two main roles: public order and public security.
- The PTU is responsible for maintaining Public Order in times of riots and demonstrations as well as neutralising threats in Public Security situations. As a PTU trooper, you will be called upon to deal with a broad range of public order situations from managing civil disturbances to quelling violent riots, perform security related duties including searches for armed criminals, and respond to terrorist incidents in the form of Armed Strike Teams.
