You will be part of the National Library, Collections (Statutory Function) team that engages Singaporeans in discovering and using Singapore and regional content, thereby fostering a sense of national identity and pride. The role will also include developing and delivering timely information products and reference services to meet NLB / NL's desired outcomes and objectives.

What you will be working on

•    Lead in the development of the Social Media collection. This includes selecting, collecting, and seeking copyright clearance for the archiving of social media accounts that document Singapore heritage. You will also work closely with other departments to devise a new preservation and meta-tagging process and build a publicly accessible platform.
•    Assist in the Gifts & Exchange programme. This includes the selecting of gifted (digital and physical) publications and working with other departments on the processing of these materials into the library collections. The Exchange programme includes the selection and acquisition of local publications for the exchange of publications with other institutions.
•    Handle reference and research enquiries and provide in-depth reference support for queries related to subject and language expertise. 
•    Lead content development efforts in subject specialisation (documentation and curatorial research) including tracking of key trends and developments.
•    Plan, conduct and strategise promotion and outreach awareness activities to create greater awareness of the library's collections, products and services.
•    Deliver appointed administrative and/or management duties which includes conducting of library tours and user education sessions as and when assigned.
•    Any other ad-hoc projects/works associated with Statutory Function’s areas of works such as Web Archiving, Legal Deposit and others. 

What we are looking for

To be a successful candidate, you will need to:
•    2-5 years of relevant working experience, with background in a Humanities or Social Sciences related discipline preferred.
•    Strong proficiency in English, both written and spoken. Proficiency in either Chinese, Malay or Tamil (written and oral) would be an added advantage, as the role involves managing reference queries and collection related to specific subject areas and languages. 
•    Required to perform shift work and work during weekends.
•    Good project management, organizational, communication and writing skills.
•    Good working knowledge of digital content and online platforms.
•    Strong networking and relationship building skills with a passion for learning and commitment to customer service.
•    Able to work independently and in teams.
•    Strong interest in digital preservation, collection work, research and writing, and contemporary Singapore history.

The successful candidate will be appointed on a 2-year contract in the first instance. We regret that only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
