What the role is

As a Senior Corporate Communications Officer, you will be part of the Corporate Communications Branch in charge of positioning Singapore Customs as the lead agency for revenue enforcement and trade facilitation, through various activities such as:

What you will be working on

a) Develop and implement integrated publicity plan, includes marketing and digital communications b) Draft speeches, presentations, talking points, quotes, FAQs, media/public replies and any other media materials c) Plan and manage digital platforms d) Develop and implement risk and crisis communications plan

What we are looking for

Core Competencies • Integrity: ability to manage sensitive / confidential information, especially in handling confidential issues and knowing how / when to handle such information. • Good Sensibilities: ability to understand core issues related to problems in order to come up with effective publicity solutions. • Persuasiveness: ability to articulate convincingly, especially with media and stakeholders, in order to persuade them to publicise positively. • Emotional quotient: ability to handle difficult situations while maintaining a positive atmosphere and environment, especially in controversial situations. Functional Competencies • Writing ability: able to organise thoughts logically and convincingly and put pen to paper in a simple and easily understood manner. • ‘Killer instinct’: ability to ‘smell’ a good story angle as well as generate good publicity across all platforms. • Digital savvy: strategise, organise and implement digital content plans and have a good understanding of the existing and emerging technologies, including social media. Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience • 5-8 years of relevant experience in Communications and related fields • Meticulous, self-driven, a team player who is confident, resourceful and level-headed with strong interpersonal skills and a 'can-do' attitude

Singapore Customs is a government agency under the Ministry of Finance. Re-constituted on 1 April 2003, Singapore Customs is the lead agency on trade facilitation and revenue enforcement matters. It is also responsible for the implementation of customs and trade enforcement measures including those related to Free Trade Agreements and strategic goods.
