What the role is
What you will be working on
• Work with NRF management and HHP RIE agencies to plan, strategise and implement national research, innovation and enterprise (RIE) initiatives that address national strategic priorities and catalyse economic value creation/capture;
• Nurture a dynamic HHP community by fostering synergies among academia, industry and government to accelerate value creation and capture aligned with NRF’s national objectives and goals;
• Conduct horizon scanning to identify emerging technological trends and research breakthroughs in HHP, informing NRF’s strategic planning and resource allocation;
• Manage the strategic governance of RIE programmes, ensuring alignment with national objectives and RIE guidelines;
• Support NRF senior leadership in hosting foreign delegations, and participating in outgoing visits related to HHP.
What we are looking for
• Background in Biomedical Engineering, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Medicine, or related disciplines;
• 3-5 years of experience in strategic planning roles, research administration, policy-making, or related fields;
• Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with ability to translate organisational intent or goals into actionable initiatives to achieve results.
• Proficiency in data sciences and project management skills (desirable);
• Excellent spoken, written and presentation skills, with a proven ability to influence stakeholders;
• Independent, meticulous, organised, resourceful, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and perform under pressure; and
• Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
About National Research Foundation
The National Research Foundation (NRF) was set up on 1 January 2006 as a department under the Prime Minister's Office. It was set up to perform the following:
a) To provide secretariat support to the Research, Innovation and Enterprise Council (RIEC), chaired by the Prime Minister;
b) To coordinate the research of different agencies within the larger national framework in order to provide a coherent strategic overview and direction;
c) To develop policies and plans to implement the five strategic thrusts for the national R&D agenda; and
d) To implement national research, innovation and enterprise strategies approved by the RIEC, and to allocate funding to programmes that meet NRF's strategic objectives.
