The Culture Academy (CA) plays a key role in grooming the next generation of cultural leaders in the public sector. The Academy’s work focuses on 3 inter-related areas: Leadership and Capability Development, Research and Scholarship and International Partnerships.

To build and nurture leadership capabilities in the arts and culture sector, CA offers programmes and opportunities for our cultural leaders to hone their leadership skills and deep dive into cross-sector research so that they can grow professionally. The Academy also actively seeks platforms locally, regionally and internationally to showcase our cultural leaders so that we can achieve our vision of becoming a leading regional centre of excellence and knowledge for the development of cultural policy.

What the role is
What you will be working on
Working with immediate supervisor to engage key stakeholders such as National Heritage Board, National Arts Council, MCCY’s family of cultural institutions, industry players and government agencies of the arts, culture and creative sector and beyond, the intern will be exposed to a variety of learning opportunities through undertaking all/some of the following based on organisational needs and individual interests:
1. Leadership & Capability Development
a. Be exposed to the design, development and implement of training programmes, including analysing training needs, developing relevant cases and modules, identifying suitable learning & development interventions, implementing delivery and conducting programme evaluation, compiling relevant statistics, performing after-action review and recommending improvements to the programme.
b. Manage training programme administration, including participant and resource person coordination, learning journey arrangements, overseas trip development, working with colleagues to process programme fees, procurement and financial matters.
2. Research Work
a. research and develop learning journeys at historic districts such as Kampong Glam, Little India and Chinatown, incorporating multi-agency perspectives (examples include urban planning policies, land management, tourism development strategies, cultural sensitivities, arts initiatives, and heritage preservation approaches) to showcase the complexity of policy issues.
b. conduct in-depth research on arts and cultural ecosystems in identified countries and cities, analysing governance structures, funding mechanisms, and stakeholder relationships. This includes studying arts and cultural policy frameworks, funding and tax systems, and public-private-people sector players in the industry.
3. Talent Development
a. support talent development and management initiatives through research on industry and international best practices, assist in developing mentorship programme structure and frameworks, and contribute to leadership development programmes for the arts and cultural sector.
4. Stakeholder Engagement & Event Management
a. assist in CA-wide initiatives and projects to achieve organisation development and excellence, such as supporting partnership accounts (e.g., HR-Community of Practice, Cultural Policy Research Network) that are relevant to the job portfolio as part of stakeholders’ engagement strategy.
b. Support in the coordination of engaging CAx events (e.g. Fireside chats) and relevant local and international partnership initiatives that explore diverse themes in the arts and culture sector. Gain hands-on experience in event management through maintaining documentation, handling administrative tasks, gathering participant feedback, and providing onsite support. Work alongside the team to deliver meaningful conversations while developing practical skills in project coordination and event execution.
5. Content Development and Knowledge Management
a. Support the development of the division's new website by working with team members to gather and consolidate content for the platform. Coordinate between the division and development partners to ensure accurate information flow during the website development phase. Gain practical experience in project coordination and understanding of digital transformation initiatives.
b. Leverage technology including SharePoint sites and listing, Power BI, AI tools, Robotic Process Automation (RPA) for enhanced knowledge management and process improvement.
What we are looking for
a) A sociable and spontaneous self-starter and team player with an inquisitive mind with good communication, interpersonal, organisation and administration skills and a keen eye for details and sense of responsibility.
b) Proficient in MS Office Applications and interested in technological applications and innovations.
c) Interest in learning & development and the cultural sector will be an advantage.
