What the role is

The Government Partnerships & Engagement Group (GPEG) contributes to the development of a collaborative government that empowers partnerships and engagement (PE) with citizens for a better Singapore. It does this through the development of public sector capabilities in partnerships and engagement, external partnerships and the design and organisation of Whole-of-Government (WOG) PE initiatives. Within GPEG, the Planning & Development (P&D) team drives the development of public sector PE capabilities in the areas of PE policy, organisational capacity, workforce planning and development, and stakeholder management and engagement. The intern will learn how embracing participatory governance can significantly enhance citizen-centredness in government Partnership and Engagement (PE) planning and policy review. The research and analysis will inform MCCY’s strategies and curation of topics for a PE Community of Practice. You will also learn more about how the Public Service works and how to think critically about public issues. This will help you in most careers you consider, especially if you would like to join the civil service.

What you will be working on

The intern’s responsibilities as follows: • Conduct desktop research work on emerging PE design and approaches in citizen engagement across Public Service in Singapore, regional and international contexts • Curate emerging trends and approaches from international or regional implementation and successful/ impactful case studies • Evaluate government and community responses around the world to these emerging PE approaches/trends and propose recommendations to address and build collaborative governance in Singapore’s context • Present findings, considerations and implications of the study
