What the role is

The ISEAS – Yusof Ishak Institute is a leading research centre dedicated to the study of socio-political, security and economic trends and developments in Southeast Asia and its wider geostrategic and economic environment.

Applications are invited for the following position:

Visiting Fellow, Regional Economics Studies

What you will be working on

  • Conduct research in consultation with RES Coordinator and Director (Research)
  • Undertake policy-relevant research on economic development in Southeast Asia
  • Produce commentaries, policy papers, academic articles
  • Conduct lectures, talks and briefings
  • Manage and assist in the organization of ISEAS events
  • Establish and maintain professional links with relevant stakeholders
  • General editorial work as well as perform other tasks and duties related to ISEAS and RES

What we are looking for

  • PhD in economics, political economy, development studies or business economics
  • Non-PhD applicants with extensive experience in government, the private sector, and think tanks are welcome to apply
  • 3-5 years of experience in a research centre, think tank, or academic institution
  • Strong interdisciplinary work with a good track record in research and publications
  • Strong communication and writing skills in English
  • Good interpersonal and networking skills

Applications should include a cover letter, a full CV, and a research proposal of not more than five pages (double-spaced). The proposal should discuss the research topic(s) that is (are) of interest to the applicant.

Remuneration and benefits will depend on the candidate's qualifications and experience. Applicants will be notified if they are shortlisted within 4 weeks of the closing date of this job posting.  Shortlisted candidates will be requested to furnish two letters of reference.
